Chemical Grout Joint Sealing...more>

Chemical grouts do not stop sewer leaks simply by filling joints and cracks......

Instead, grout is pumped through joints and cracks to fill voids and chanels in the surrounding soil. When sufficient grout has been pumped, the pump is stopped and the grout then gells to form an impervious collar of grout/gell around the outside of the pipe.

This water-tight collar adheres to the outer surface of the pipe or manhole where it will stay indefinitely unless removed by excavation or exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. If groundwater pressures increase, the collar will be pressed more tightly against the structure, increasing its ability to stop leaks.

Service laterals are often a source of significant infiltration, but without chemical grout it is seldom cost-effective to stop leaks. It usually costs less to treat the groundwater than to dig up and repair or put a liner in these lines. However, chemical grout is so economical and effective that a positive return on investment can be realized immediately.

Studies have shown that most infiltration into service lines occurs within a few feet of the main. The two primary reasons for this are that all except the last few feet of service lines are usually above the water table, and groundwater flows easily in the backfill of a mainline trench because of the French drain effect. This means that a poorly constructed lateral connection or mainline lateral connection can be a significant source of infiltration that is easily addressed with chemical grout.

Most mainline rehabilitation CIPP lining and clip lining procedures do not solve the problem of leakage into the main caused by a leaky connection at the service line. Grouting the mainline or grouting service lines after lining will stop these leaks and also stop water migrating through the annular space around the liner.

Each pipeline joint can be individually tested (Air or Water Test) and, if a failure determined, sealed using a robust sealing packer.

Where appropriate, chemical grouting is an effective, time proven, cost effective and long lasting process for water control and soil stabilization.

Not only does chemical grout seal leaking joints, it also stabilizes the surrounding soil and fills voids, restores support to the pipe and forms a water impermeable mass around pipe joints and manhole walls.

A chemical grouted joint seals off flow from the inside as well as the outside, preventing future costly water exfiltration and infiltration.

The grout can withstand normal ground water movement, resist fracturing upon exposure to dry conditions and in documented field studies, has provided over 50 years of leak free service.

Jetco has been successful in eliminating infiltration and exfiltration of water in manholes and pipes through the application of chemical grouting.
