| The inspection is recorded on video tape or
disc with full display of job, location in the drain, date,
test results etc and audio input for operator comments. An alphanumeric
keyboard titles each inspection with detail to positively identify
the line being surveyed.
The inspection tapes can be post processed through a computerised
logging system capable of producing a full printout of each
drain showing all faults and comments and rating the drain
to give priority ranking for the drain.
Internal Pipe Repair
We carry out pipe repairs using a range of systems. The chemical
grouting system called "Reveal & Seal" is used
to seal cracks, joint failure and other faults which allow
either inflow or outflow to occur. The process is carried
out from inside the pipe and can be used in pipes from 150mm
to 675mm diameter. Pressure tests of the fault are carried
out immediately after the injection of the chemical grout.
If it fails to pass the test, more grout is injected to seal
the leak.
We have developed "Hardliner", a pipe repair system
which enables a sleeve to be inserted in the pipe, accurately
located using CCTV and then secured into position. It bridges
holes, missing sections of pipe or disused laterals.

"Wilkill", a process using chemicals to kill roots
which have entered in the pipe, is widely used by Jetco. This
system treats the roots to inhibit their regrowth. The use
of this system leaves the drain clear of roots and capable
of full operation without potential obstructions blocking
the flow.
Jetcoliner is the latest addition to our range of services
and involves totally relining an old sewer line with an epoxy
filled tubular sock. Mains and house laterals can both be
relined with this system.

Contracts involving Mainline Joint Testing to determine accurately
the extent and locations of Sewer pipe joint failure.
Horowhenua District Council
The Horowhenua District received unusually high levels of
rainfall resulting in high ground water levels.
We are contracted to Horowhenua to locate where ground water
was entering the Sewer Systems using CCTV and Joint Sealing
equipment, and to repair any faults found using Jetco hardliner
and Reveal and Seal Joint Sealing System.
Porirua City Council
Jetco carried out a program of Mainline Cleaning, CCTV and
Joint Testing to determine the extent and location of Sewer
Main Joint failure in order to eliminate the cause of visible
beach leachate staining.
We now have the contract to repair all faults found using
our Hardlining process and Reveal and Sealing Joints.
Wellington City Council -
Capacity
Jetco has for many years been involved in the vacuum removal
of large volumes of debris of all types. Some of these jobs
include:
- Cleaning out approx 240 tonnes of Rock / Gravel from
a 1550 Æ Stormwater culvert in Wellington CBD.
- Cleaning out approx 600 tonnes of SW debris from the
Miramar Pits and the associated large bore pipe work system
- Cleaned the SW pits of this contract WCC D/1070, and
several times before. To do this work, we have had to
develop a safe and reliable SW bypass ducting, flumes
and pumping systems, essential for completing this cleaning
operation.
We have, for over 20 years, completed numerous contracts
for Wellington City, involving:
- Mainline sewer cleaning using HP water jet cleaners
and high performance vacuum loader.
- CCTV investigation of pipelines 100mm dia through to
sizes as large as 1.8metres dia.
- Hardlining of damaged section of sewer.
- Chemical grouting of pipeline with known major infiltration
problems.
- Pump Station Maintenance Cleaning.
- Grit Chamber Interceptor Cleaning.
Marlborough District Council
Has an ongoing commitment to reducing their high infiltration
levels.
Jetco are their preferred contractor and a current contract
with them has involved almost all of our quality rehab services.
As is often the case, the extent of the latest contract
was significantly increased.
Transfield Services
Cleaned out all 48 Cook Straight Cable negative ground return
cells. These cells are essentially a cylindrical concrete
chamber located on the beach at Makara and contains the
negative electrodes required for Cook Straight DC transmission.
These cells become full of beach material during storms
and need cleaning.
Wairoa District Council
Ongoing contracts involving the thorough cleaning of the
town's 10km of sewer system, to improve general flow, and
was followed by a systematic CCTV survey of the previously
cleaned lines. Infiltration investigation will soon be undertaken
so that effective chemical grouting and rehabilitation work
can be employed to bring the town sewer collection system
up to standard.
Masterton District Council
For the past 20 years we have helped Masterton overcome
some of the major sewer line infiltration problems that
exist in the town.
A recent contract involved the total rehabilitation of both
sewer mains as well as the house laterals from the boundary
to the main.
This contract has involved:
- Installation of 35 Lateral Access Chambers
- House to house inspections and smoke testing
- Mainline and lateral cleaning 1000 metres
- Mainline and lateral TV inspection 700 metres
- No Dig Spot Repair - Hardlining of 150 and 225 dia mains
- Chemical grouting of mains and laterals.
This contract is the beginning of a long term commitment
by the council to bring the town's sewer collection system
up to an efficient operation standard.
Other District Councils throughout New Zealand have employed
Jetco on both competitive tender contracts and day works
to carry out pipeline cleaning and rehabilitation work using
the best equipment available in the country.
Total customer satisfaction has often resulted in very
significant increases to scheduled quantities.
A brief list of those councils and approximate length of
lines cleaned and surveyed are:
- Palmerston North City 40 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Masterton District Council 20 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Marlborough District Council 30 km of cleaning &
CCTV
- Invercargill City Council 5 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Lower Hutt City Council 25 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Upper Hutt City Council 15 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Porirua City Council 10 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Wellington City Council 30 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Whangarei City Council 7 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Auckland City Council 3 km of cleaning & CCTV
- Far North District (KawaKawa) 8 km of cleaning &
CCTV
In addition of Local Authority clients, Jetco also carries out
work for private industry.
In 1982 Jetco was awarded a contract from Bechtal Corporation
to carry out a cleaning, CCTV inspection and internal pipe
repair contract at the Motonui Synfuels plant. This contract
involved 6 km of pipe ranging in sizes from 150mm to 675mm.
The CCTV inspection revealed several damaged sections of
pipe which were repaired by Jetco's internal "Reveal
& Seal" repair system.
The contract for the Motonui plant was completed within
the 4 month period. The client was very satisfied with the
end result, especially the internal repairs which avoided
the need to dig up and disrupt the area.
